Gloria in Excelsis Deo - the song of the angels announcing Christ's birth - given here in a powerful version, simple and beautiful, for choir and saxophone by Norwegian composer Frøy Aagre (b. 1977). At times deeply meditative, at times sparkling with energy, this is a Gloria with roots in both the classical and jazz traditions, just as the composer herself.
The composition was originally commissioned by choir Schola Cantorum and conductor Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl. It was recorded and released by record label 2L (2014) with Frøy Aagre on saxophone. Gloria is dedicated to Lene Vase.
